How Time Flies…

It feels surreal to think that we started Afloat Coffee Roaster in May 2022, and here we are, celebrating our third Christmas! Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside amazing team members—some joining us to make beautiful memories, and others parting ways to pursue new opportunities. As business owners, Jimmy and I have come to accept the ebb and flow of the F&B industry. Retaining talent isn’t as easy as it might be for larger companies, but every individual who has been part of Afloat’s journey holds a special place in our hearts.

As I sit down to reflect on this past year, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. 2024 has been a year of exciting bar takeovers, coffee pop-ups, meaningful collaborations, and ongoing improvements to our roast profiles, barista training, and quality of service. While I often wonder when Jimmy and I will get a proper moment to pause and breathe, I think this hustle is just who we are. We secretly love it—it’s fueled by our passion for coffee and for creating something meaningful.

Thank you to our incredible team for taking care of Afloat like it’s their own. Thank you to our wonderful customers for visiting our little space, enjoying the coffee and bagels we serve, and supporting us every step of the way. And a special thanks to our designers for their beautiful work on every collaboration—and, of course, for making this website a reality after its long hibernation! (Yes, we know it took a while)

What’s next for Afloat? Well, we’ll keep you guessing for now. But here’s a sneak peek: we’ll be giving our washroom a little facelift to elevate everyone’s experience. Plus, it’s time for our hardworking team to take a well-deserved break after a relentless year of dedication and passion.
